THE ACACIA AGENDA
We design swim and ready-to-wear inspired by the je ne sais quoi of the women who raised us. Born from a need for sophisticated swimwear and a deep admiration for nature, heritage, and femininity, ACACIA was founded in 2006 by creative director and designer Naomi Acacia Newirth—a collection of wearable silhouettes designed for women at every stage of life.
The ACACIA Agenda is a refined approach to invite you into our world—how we create, what we value, and the responsibility we carry. At our core, we design for women, a commitment that extends beyond clothing to the land that nurtures us. Inspired by heritage, shaped by place, and driven by the beauty + strength of womanhood, we honor both our roots and our future. Consider this our ongoing pursuit of refinement—an ever-evolving commitment to thoughtful choices, lasting design, and deeper connection.
"Raised near the sea by my beautiful mother, my inspiration has always been steeped in nature, heritage, and the awe of femininity. I traveled the world’s coasts during my 20s to experience new cultures and the details of nature I never realized existed. Sketching and sewing from a young age, I have a deep love for fashion and an infatuation with the designs that make women feel most beautiful. I launched ACACIA out of necessity at the time. I have lived most of my life in a bikini, and until then, hadn’t found a suit that made me feel most feminine and sophisticated. Designing swimwear for women is such an intimate experience. Understanding our customer and celebrating the many female forms is an important part of my process. I wanted to bring sophisticated swimwear to the masses and was able to do so when launching my label in 2006. I was the first to offer a fuse between the low-cut Italian bikini and classic Brazilian fit, which has since become a signature design. Now in our 17th year, we strive to offer swimwear and clothing that make the modern day woman feel effortlessly chic, while being mindful of our impact on the world. We are working and partnering with women to eliminate the gender gap and support women in the workplace, while implementing changes to more sustainable practices. OUR APPROACH
For nearly two decades, we have produced in Bali—a place that has become a second home. Two of the four factories we work with have been with us since the beginning, upholding high standards of ethical production, gender equality, and fair pay. Our relationships with our manufacturers are built on mutual respect and a shared dedication to quality craftsmanship, ensuring that every piece is made with care.
Sustainability is an ongoing process, and we recognize there is always more to do. We are committed to refining our materials, production, and practices with transparency and integrity—understanding that progress is continuous. These are just some of the steps we’ve taken, and we remain dedicated to evolving with intention.
THOUGHTFULLY SELECTED FABRICS
Cotton is valued for its softness, breathability, and durability, making it one of the most versatile natural fibers. We use GOTS-certified organic cotton whenever feasible, ensuring responsible cultivation and production without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or harmful chemicals. This process helps conserve soil health and water resources while creating a fabric that is gentle on the skin.
Organic cotton remains strong and long-lasting, softening over time for added comfort while maintaining its refined appeal. While we strive to use organic cotton across our collections, some styles may require alternative fabrications. As a small label producing in limited quantities, meeting certification requirements can be challenging, but certified organic styles are noted accordingly.
A refined alternative to silk, cotton cupro is a breathable, lightweight fabric with a smooth, fluid drape. Made from cotton linter—a byproduct of cotton processing—cupro repurposes otherwise discarded fibers into a soft, silk-like material. It offers a luxurious feel while remaining breathable and easy to wear.
Crafted from 100% cotton, our denim offers a structured yet comfortable feel that naturally softens with wear. Though not an eco-designated fabric, we produce our denim in very limited quantities, allowing for a more intentional and controlled production process that minimizes excess. We are constantly exploring ways to improve and source more sustainable denim fabrics that uphold our design standards without compromise.
ECOVERO™ rayon is a wood-based fiber that offers a refined drape and soft feel, making it an ideal choice for effortless, fluid silhouettes. Certified by both FSC and PEFC, this fabric is sourced from responsibly managed forests, ensuring traceability and lower environmental impact. With its smooth texture and elegant movement, ECOVERO™ rayon blends sophistication with a relaxed, wearable appeal.
Select crochet styles are crafted from 100% recycled cotton, giving new life to pre-consumer cotton waste. Each handwoven piece offers a unique, tactile dimension, highlighting the natural texture and durability of recycled fibers. Soft yet structured, this material retains the breathable comfort of traditional cotton while reducing the need for virgin resources. Styles made with recycled cotton are noted accordingly.
We use recycled polyester across select swim styles, including our surf shorts and newly introduced triangle-textured swim fabric. Made from post-consumer plastic waste, this fabric reduces environmental impact while maintaining the durability, stretch, and performance essential for swimwear.
The triangle texture adds depth and structure, offering a sculpting hold with a sleek, supportive fit. For added comfort, each piece is lined with our buttery-soft swim lining, balancing structure with a smooth feel against the skin.
Select styles in our swimwear collection are made with recycled REPREVE® nylon, a fiber created from post-consumer plastic waste, such as discarded bottles. This process helps reduce landfill waste, conserve resources, and minimize environmental impact without compromising performance.
REPREVE® nylon retains the durability, stretch, and softness of traditional swim fabrics while offering a more sustainable alternative. Additionally, it can be recycled again at the end of its lifecycle, contributing to a more circular approach to textile production.
TENCEL™ Lyocell is a rayon fiber derived from wood pulp, produced through a closed-loop process that recycles 99.5% of the solvents used, minimizing waste and environmental impact. Lightweight yet durable, it offers a gentle, fluid feel that moves effortlessly with the body.
Certified as biodegradable and compostable across various environments—including industrial, home, soil, and marine conditions—TENCEL™ Lyocell is designed to fully return to nature at the end of its lifecycle.
Made from FSC-certified viscose, this fabric is derived from responsibly managed forests, ensuring sustainable sourcing. Viscose is a wood-based fiber known for its soft, silky feel and elegant drape, making it a versatile choice for fluid, lightweight designs. FSC certification guarantees that the raw materials are harvested with care, maintaining forest biodiversity and responsible production practices. The result is a refined, breathable fabric with a smooth finish and natural movement.
MATERIALS & PACKAGING

ACACIA Hardware
Newly introduced in 2025, our O-rings, figure-8 hardware, and buttons are made from corozo, a durable, plant-based material derived from the seeds of the Tagua palm. Often called “vegetable ivory,” corozo is biodegradable, offering a natural alternative to plastic while maintaining strength, smoothness, and refined detail.

Made To Order Model
Our made-to-order model reduces waste by producing in small, intentional batches, limiting excess inventory for both us and our retailers. While this approach helps minimize overproduction, we continue to explore ways to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Hand Dyed & Screen Printing
All of our clothing fabrics are hand-dyed and screen-printed in Bali, allowing us to produce only what is needed and reduce excess fabric waste. This process preserves the artistry of traditional techniques while ensuring each piece is thoughtfully made with attention to detail.
LOOKING AHEAD
We are committed to continuously improving, from using fabrics with traceability and ethical certifications to expanding our philanthropic giving, with a focus on supporting more environmental causes. While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we recognize that sustainability is an ongoing commitment—one that requires regular evaluation, adaptation, and community input. We welcome feedback and encourage open conversations about responsible practices. If you have suggestions or questions, reach out to us at customerservice@acacia.co.
